Ardnamurchan is the spectacular Scottish Estate that sits at the most westerly extremity of the Scottish Highlands. Aside from its breath-taking scenery; the Estate boasts a wealth of wildlife such as regular sightings of Otters and Seals, as well as two ‘Deer Forests’ that include a managed population of around 1000 Red Deer. Visitors are attracted for the views, sport and nature.

Midland Computers was visited by the Estate Manager, in order to commission a new website for the Estate and to get us up to speed with their current business logic and the requirements of the new website. One of the main aspects that the website needed was the ability to book the range of holiday homes online. The Estate did previously have a web presence, but this capability was not in place. The new website also needed to incorporate all of the attractions offered to visitors, such as the sporting side of it, the wildlife and the castles and their history.

The all-encompassing characteristic of the website was partly facilitated by a map of the peninsula. This was actually a painting of the Estate that was commissioned by the owner that we developed to create the interactive tool for visitors to use to research the Estate and plan a trip.

As well as the website being aesthetically pleasing, with stunning imagery and an easy navigation; considerable time and investment was made in order to create a bespoke CMS and booking system. Because of this, two members of the Development Team visited the Estate for a week, operating from the Estate’s Learning Centre, in order to deliver training and get all of the staff confidently using the website and administration system. They also took this opportunity to deliver training on the pre-existing Glenborrodale Castle website, also designed and developed by us.

The Ardnamurchan website is now live, and we are particularly proud of it. A Shop website is also underway, so that the Estate can sell produce online.
