At Midlands Computers, we’re excited to be celebrating a quarter century of success! And to mark this momentous occasion, we have a series of exciting events and initiatives planned throughout the remainder of the year.
To commemorate this milestone, we are proudly:
- Donating £250 on behalf of each of our employees to a charity of their choosing
- Hosting a community celebration later this summer – bringing together clients, prospects, vendors, and local businesses.
Supporting Businesses Since 1999
Established in 1999 by Chris Bickerton in a unit in Tweedale, the business built computer systems which were shipped across the UK. The company started with Chris and just one other employee, David Haycox, who remains with us today as a Consultant Engineer.
At the time, the internet and emails were relatively new, leading to a huge industry boom as more companies and individuals sought to embrace new technologies.
Demand continued to increase, and the business moved to a larger office in Halesfield. Needing even more space, we invested time and money into renovating it to maximise its potential for our growing team. We also introduced a dedicated data centre and quickly evolved into a comprehensive IT services provider.
Since then, we have continued to grow by partnering with market-leading vendors, such as Microsoft, Hewlett, Packard, and dell, to deliver cutting-edge solutions. And we’ve recruited a team of talented professionals, added a fleet of vans, and increased our service offering, allowing us to support over 300 businesses.
From Tech Troubles to Triumphs
As with any industry, we have naturally encountered our fair share of challenges – from the 2008 credit crunch to the current cost-of-living crisis.
But it was the Covid-19 pandemic that was especially pivotal for the company. Many businesses were forced to transition to digital and remote ways of working – literally overnight! – meaning we had to quickly and efficiently support them in ways we never had before.
And this was a huge catalyst in transforming how modern businesses work today. Hybrid models are more popular than ever, requiring totally tailored solutions to ensure adequate security and accessibility for those who are logging on outside of the office.

Amy Davies, our MD, said: “Having been part of the business for almost 19 years, I’m incredibly proud of how the company has evolved and to now be at the helm of leading it into the next chapter.
