A Gift That Gives Back – Charity Donations

Published September 2025

Midland Computers - Charity Donations

This year marks a pretty special milestone for us here at Midland Computers – 25 years in business. A quarter of a century helping people, solving IT challenges, growing our team, and building a culture we’re truly proud of.

When we looked at how to celebrate this company milestone, we knew it had to reflect what truly mattered to us: our people.

£250 Donations

That’s why we decided to shine a light on causes that truly matter to our team, pledging to donate £250 on behalf of each employee to a charity of their choice. That’s over £6,000 going straight to organisations that are doing incredible, life-changing work both locally and across the UK.

And it’s not a tick-box activity or top-down decision. We are, and always will be, a people-first company, and our culture is built solely around care, trust, and purpose. So, to celebrate, we wanted to put that into action and make a real difference.

Chosen Charities

The charities our team have chosen moved us more than we ever expected, and it’s a real pleasure to be able to do this for each and every one of them.

Take Heidi who chose Women’s Aid, a charity whose mission is deeply important to her that supports women and children experiencing domestic violence and abuse. Her words reminded us that behind every statistic is a story of strength, survival, and hope. As she put it: ‘Every donation, every conversation, and every bit of support helps create a future where women and children can live free from fear and harm.’

Amy decided on Cancer Research UK, inspired by her grandmother’s breast cancer diagnosis 15 years ago. Thanks to a clinical trial made possible by donations, her grandmother is now 86 and has been able to watch two of her grandchildren get married, and three great grandchildren be born. Amy’s donation is a beautiful way to give back and help others get that same chance.

Mike selected Down’s Syndrome Association, praising its inspiring work supporting individuals that have Down’s Syndrome, as well as the families and carers around them. For Mike, it’s a ‘small gesture from the heart’, and one that reflects his deep admiration for the charity’s mission.

And then there’s Paul, an avid motorcyclist and volunteer with the Shropshire, Staffordshire & Cheshire Blood Bikes. His connection is deeply personal: when his wife experienced complications in childbirth, a blood biker delivered the rare blood type she needed for a transfusion to save her life. Now, he’s on a mission to return the favour wherever he can – and we couldn’t be prouder.

Other charities receiving donations include Stay Telford, Men’s Minds Matter, and Lingen Davies Cancer Fund – each one chosen with care, and each one making a real difference.

Making A Difference

This initiative is not only about giving back but also honouring who we are and the incredible people we work with every day. We understand that each member of our team has a story, has a family, and a life outside of Midland Computers, and it’s such a pleasure to be able to help them support something that really matters to them.

Here’s to 25 years of people, purpose, and making an impact. And to many more to come!
